The much-maligned adverb can be a useful addition to a sentence. Misplaced adverbs, though, can turn a sentence into a piece of nonsense.

Hopefully, I hope

I’m willing to bet that the very next time you hear the word ‘hopefully’ it will have been used clumsily.
