They’re everywhere. They can totally mangle the meaning of a sentence. And, in some cases, they are just downright comical. What are they?
They’re misplaced modifiers.
Here’s one:
She rode past on a grey horse wearing a pink party hat.
And I’m sure the horse looked very fetching in it.
Or maybe the sentence is wearing a badly misplaced modifier.
