Yes, lots of people believe that; it's another piece of misinformation, copycatted on social media. Logue dedicated the poem to Apollinaire and used it on a promotion for an Apollinaire exhibition and it was prefaced: 'Apollinaire said...' which is probably why the original mistake was made. 😊
Yes...presenting yourself with wings and saying, 'Come join me..' would have a different outcome.
